Water Extraction & Restoration

It is important to properly and effectively remove water from your home or business after any type of a water leak or flood in order to minimize the amount of damage that is done. EnviroClean Floorcare & Restoration utilizes the following four-step water extraction process

  • Water extraction
  • Dehumidifying and drying
  • Sanitizing and odor removal
  • Mold removal

Properly following and executing each step in this water extraction process can be the difference between easily resolving the water situation with little to no after effect versus having serious structural damage, reoccurring leaks, and even health issues.

Mold and Water Damage Remediation for Boats and Yachts

There’s nothing like spending time on your boat. It’s fun, relaxing, and an excellent place to entertain.

But could being on your boat be hurting you, your family, or guests? If you haven’t had your boat checked and treated for mold and mildew, being on it too much could be working against your health.

Because boats spend so much time in the water, getting rained on, and in wet environments, they are susceptible to water damage, mold, and mildew.

If these problems persist long enough, they can cause untold damage to your boat and your health. That’s why it’s necessary to have your boat checked and cleaned by a crew of remediation professionals.

Does Your Boat Need Professional Remediation?

Boats are always at risk of sustaining damage of one kind or another. Just being on the water for months at a time, getting jostled and tossed by waves, wind, and weather can cause damage.

That frequently causes equipment on boats to break. If pumps, pipes, and appliances break on a boat, they can leak water everywhere, leading to water damage.

The environment boats live in is also damaging. It may not be as evident as structural damage caused by waves, but it is damaging nonetheless.

Because boats spend so much time in damp environments, in the water, and in storage, too, it’s easy for mold and mildew to grow. Regardless of the water source, a boat is vulnerable to the conditions water creates.

Wet conditions are prime for black mold, which is toxic, and mildew to grow. If you see either of these anywhere on your boat, of course, you clean it up immediately.

But, unfortunately, these organisms are opportunistic and tend to grow unchecked, in places the human eye doesn’t catch.

They’ll grow in any crack, crevice, or air duct. Without a set of professional eyes, often overlooked areas of your boat are likely harboring a collection of these toxic fungi.

What Happens if You Don’t Clear Away Fungi?

The main types of fungus that grow on boats are black mold and mildew. Both of these, if left unchecked, can cause serious health problems.

They can affect your lungs, brain, nervous system, and many more organs and systems in your body. They are not healthy for humans to be around.

Spending time on your boat with these growths puts you and anyone else at severe risk. Mold and water damage remediation for boats can rid your vessel of these problems in a few hours.

A consultation can also pinpoint unexpected areas that may be harboring fungal growth. Fabrics, towels, pads, and other soft items on your boat all likely have some mold in them.

Unsealed cracks and storage areas are also likely candidates for mold contamination. Boat remediation specialists know to check all possible places to ensure your boat is contamination-free.

Schedule a consultation with EnviroClean in Portland, ME, to ensure your boat is free and clear of dangerous mold and mildew. Your boat will be safer, and its value will last longer if you do.

When a professional checks your boat for fungal growth, they know where to look. And once they find a patch of mold or mildew, they get rid of it and disinfect the area immediately.

Our Process

Water Extraction

The first step in the complete water extraction and restoration process is to remove any standing or pooled water. We use special, powerful water extraction units to pump out any standing water. These powerful water extraction units will also begin drying your carpeting and flooring. It is important to begin this step in the water extraction process as soon as possible after flooding occurs, preferably within 24-48 hours, in order to prevent serious water damage from occurring.

Dehumidifying and Drying

After the standing water has been removed and any leaks have been identified and repaired, the next step in the water extraction process is to encourage a quick drying process. We use powerful fans and blowers to encourage and promote drying. We also use special dehumidifiers to remove and control any added moisture that may remain in the air. Drying the flooring and other areas quickly will help prevent warping, swelling, and cracking of the floors, walls, and furnishings.

Sanitizing & Odor Removal

During and immediately after the drying process, our technicians will sanitize and disinfect any necessary areas. Depending on the source of the flooding and the level of contamination in the water, more or less sanitation may be necessary during this stage in the water extraction process. Our expert technicians will identify and treat any potential sanitary problems before they become serious health problems. We can also eliminate any odors that may have resulted from sustained water damage.

Mold Removal

The final step in the water extraction and water damage restoration process is to perform mold removal services as needed to contain, kill, and remove mold from any surface on which it has started to grow. The amount of mold removal that is necessary will vary with each project, however, it is typically reduced when water extraction is performed immediately following a major water leak or flood.

Happy Customers

After a leak from a burst pipe in our basement, we ended up with a mold issue. Initially, I planned to tackle it myself, but, upon doing more research, I decided that it was best to bring in professionals. I’m glad I did. Doug and his team handled the issue quickly and effectively, and we now have peace of mind knowing that it has been properly taken care of and will not be a problem in the future.”

“I have an antique chair with crewelwork upholstery that had never been cleaned. I was hesitant to have it done because I thought the colors of the yarn might run. Doug Hayden assured me he could do it. I watched him carefully as he cleaned it by hand. It came out perfectly. Then Doug cleaned the carpet where a bedpan had spilled. No stain was left and the room now has a welcoming clean smell. Thank you EnviroClean for your professionalism and good work.”
